@@Tiger4ever89I have a unique view. I think both things can be true simultaneously. I think we have our human version of God in our dimension and Jesus was sent as our savior. But other life forms may just have their own version of it. Idea being that they are advanced to the point where they become inter-dimensional... so they can go in and out between ours and their own. This is still ours though. We try to differentiate science and religion when they're actually the same thing. Science provides a tangible, statistical framework of the world God created for us. I was born in 86 and it was my sister's favorite movie. I had no clue who Sinbad was ( at the time) I vividly remember thinking his genie name was "Sinbad " and how dumb she made me feel when I realized it was his real name. I kept assuming she was explaining the Shaq movie and we had a big spat over it. we realized we were talking about two different movies. I remember this so vividly; she passed away at 21 and those little moments are etched into my soul
Same here im 34 and I wanted to beat the hell out of my older sister for liking sindbad and we HAD to watch it all the time. Now when she comes over to my house I turn on rugrats and parental lock.

My first job was working at AMC Ahwatukee 24, in Phoenix, AZ. I remember having to watch Shazam and it was gone from the theatre a week later because we only sold about 3 tickets per show. Multiple shows played empty (the movie was horrible).
I remember a year later Kazaam or whatever it was called, with Shaq came out. I thought to myself, “why would they make another movie like this, after the first one bombed.” I made bets with my coworkers about how quick the movie would be out of the theatre.
A few years later, Sinbad visited the Wyndham Buttes (the hotel now goes by a different name). My girlfriend was a hostess at the Compass Room restaurant (now closed) and we both only knew Sinbad because of the horrible movie from the theatre we worked at.
The movie existed.

I was born in 1965 and I remember very well watching this on VHS with my 3 kids. I remember the one shaq I never cared for it. I remember Shazam very well. He and them can say whatever but everyone of us who says we seen it saw it!!

I remember this movie and the fact the Cornucopia was part of the Fruit of the Loom because I distinctly remember a memory when I was a little girl in my moms bedroom, and she just opened a pack and took one out and placed the pack on the bed. That’s when I traced the cornucopia with my finger tracing the outline of it. For years I was baffled like wtf, but recently ideas of the quantum realm and ideas of the multiverse is starting to not sound so far fetched.

I remember for a fact the scene in the end when the protagonist kid saw the kid getting picked on by bullies and he said that he wished somebody could stand up for the kid then the protagonist kid's little sister and sinbad both looked at the protagonist and hinted that he was the one that he was wishing could defend the kid, so he went over and made the bullies leave the kid alone then him and the kid became friends after the kid apologized for squirting a water gun at him or nerf gun or something like that because that happened at the beginning of the movie they had just moved to the neighborhood and the same kid that was being bullied in the end had picked on the protagonist kid who was new to the neighborhood (because the mother passed away or something and he and his little sister were the new kids in the neighborhood because the father had found a new job which is why they moved in the first place because the mother passed away)and I feel like I swear the next door neighbor to the protagonist kid that hit him with the nerf gun or water gun was the kid that played smart guy/teddy from full house taj mowry or something. So anyway the protagonist kid thought he wasted his last wish by accidentally saying the words he "wished" somebody would stand up for the kid. Then sinbad rest assured him that he didn't use any magic and that he stood up to the bullies on his own will. I feel like I remember Sinbad saying something like “nah kid that was all you” to rest assure him that he dealt with the bullies by being brave on his own without the help of any magic. Anyway, so they had one more wish, I swear I feel like I remember them trying to wish their mother back because she had passed away (which is why I remember the father was a single parent and why they moved to a new neighborhood and why the father was preoccupied with making a good impression on his new boss and why one of their wishes in the beginning was to help their father impress his boss at work and sinbad was using magic at the father’s work presentation and messing with the presentation chart📊📈or something and ended up making the father look silly but ironically the boss liked the presentation and thought it was funny so the wish worked in the father’s favor helping him make a good impression on his new boss, and the kids wanted to be able to spend more time with their father but he was always so busy with work which is why the protagonist kid was a troubled kid or always upset or something because the mom died, which is why he got upset at dinner and ran from the table and hid in the attic where he ended up finding the genie lamp 🪔 in the first place, and his nosey little sister who kinda liked picking on him followed him upstairs and they both discovered sinbad together and sinbad came out the genie lamp in big genie pants that looked like mchammer pants or something and had like dozens of big gold hoop earrings in both of his ears that got tangled up coming out the lamp and he got agitated with his earrings being tangled and threw them off and the little sister was playing with the earrings trying them on. Anyway. Sinbad told them sadly that his magic unfortunately can’t bring their mom back and the kids felt let down but understood and were actually still happy to have their father and be able to spend more time with their father because the father promised to be more focused on them after things went well with his new boss thanks to sinbad and the kids also matured throughout their journey with sinbad and the protagonist kid was more appreciative of his father and accepting of the loss of his mother. So then in the end the father was either pulling in the driveway or opened the front door and yelled “kids I’m home” or something and they had to hurry up and say goodbye to sinbad and instead they wished that sinbad would return one day and sinbad promised he'd either come back and visit them sometime or that he’d always be watching over them or something like that and sinbad was proud that they didn't want anymore wishes for their own gain (because technically they didn’t use their last wish). Then I swear in the end sinbad went back into the genie lamp and he was watching himself doing stand up comedy or something and he chuckled and said wow this guy is pretty good or something like that and the movie ended. (That ending part is really the part I swear I remember)
I feel like Shazam aired Disney’s afternoon programming block as a Disney exclusive. I don’t think anybody ever owned Shazam on VHS 📼. The same channel that Gargoyles was on (Disney) was the channel Shazam aired on. I was born in 1993 and I remember the movie being a known thing even in 2nd grade and that was in 1999 (I skipped kindergarten). I remember laughing with my older brother 1989 and sister 1991 as kids about how it makes no sense that they have shazam and kazam.

My memory of Shazaam & Kazaam is this: Shazaam’s plot with Sinbad as genie was about him granting wishes to two kids for their dad to be happy & marry again after losing their mom.. or something similar to that. Kazaam’s plot w Shaq was that the genie was supposed to grant this kid wishes, but he ended up neglecting it cuz he wanted to be a rapper, so the kid & his dad end up being held hostage… or something like that, lol.
So, if there was in fact never a Shazaam, can anyone recall it’s movie plot I just explained as something else? I mean thinking there was a movie that didn’t exist is one thing, but i know I didn’t create an entire movie story line complete with characters and images just in my head lol. @@Z0MB4B3 just the basics come to mind…..it was the 90’s, and honestly the movie wasn’t that great. But two kids (older brother/younger sister) find a genie lamp in their attic. Sinbad appears and will grant them three wishes (one needs to be used to free him) But the kids waste the first two on candy and fixing a toy, then want to use the third to bring back their deceased mom. Sinbad tells them this isn’t possible, and then as most 90’s movies do…..they learn the real lesson of being happy/sappy and use the third wish on their dad’s horrible boss. I honestly believe it’s only memorable bc of Sinbad.

Hollywood has a habit of these competing similar movies. A Bugs Life and Antz released around the same time, both featuring CGI insects. In the case of these live-action genie movies, they were trying to milk the popularity of Disney’s Aladdin (1991). The 90s were a crazy time for movies lol

I can vaguely remember the plot. A brother and sister around 9 and 11ish find a lamp in a back alley. Something to do with parents being dead and mobsters as villains. When shaq did kazzam I remember thinking "another black Genie movie? Sinbad already did it. And I remember thinking this upon hearing of it at the time.

Nahhh that was not the plot 🤣 the dad was alive and there were mobsters but they WERE not the central plot.
It wasn't in a back alley. Ya set pieces on the events are off. They found the lava lamp at the antique shop. It was gifted to them at first by the clerk free of charge. As the made their way home they realize something was different about the bottle. 1 it didn't break easily. 2 the colors would change depending on how you spoke to the lamp (this was the genie's emotions)
The dad worked himself a lot so he was aloof to the kids. This was part of the problem because he felt neglected emotionally and just wanted to spend more time with their dad. The genie seen this and decided to be a fairy godparent to the kids rather than a genie. I remember his demeanor being very different to the kids compared to everyone else. The mobsters were bikers eventually hired by some big CEO corp who witnessed the powers of the lamp and Sinbad but that was short lived cause the bikers actually end up liking the kids because the girl was like super tough. She wasn't a tomboy perse but she was definitely hardcore than her brother. She became a honorable member while convincing them not to take the lamp (no wishes required).
Matter of fact a lot of the situations they were in the rarely used magic to get out of it. Minimal to none really.
So everyone is just going to ignore his admission and threats of assassination if you have a copy of the movie??!??

I knew of the Shaq movie, but never saw it. I remember Shazaam and Sinbad. My mom, to this day, is obsessed with Sinbad. I know for a fact I saw that movie repeatedly as a kid.

James Gish I have a theory that involves David Adkins (Sinbad) and Buena Vista Pictures actually erasing the movie’s footprint from society. Try researching, and you’ll see how they’re covered it up. Searching “Shazaam” delivers results for the app “Shazam,” and searching for Sinbad in relation to pretty much anything involved in this movie results in different movies and shows containing “Sinbad.”
The fact that Kazaam exists leads me to believe there was an agreement between the studios to erase one and avoid any copyright claims with the other. Sinbad would have to go along with this, but even he says the acting was awful and it wasn’t his proudest moment. A little payout and he’ll say whatever they want.
The fact that the Mandela effect is being appropriated even by them (see CollegeHumor) widens the gap by destroying our credibility.
We remember Shazaam.
Hes a comedian whos only been relevant these past few years, due to idiots convincing themselves a fake non-existent movie is real, of course he is going to acknowledge it. Also, the people who remember Shazaam do not remember the same thing. So many people have different recounts of the story and what exactly happened in the movie, the only thing tying them together is a genie played by Sinbad.

This is the one ME that gets me. I remembered this movie far before the Mandela effect was ever a concept I had heard about. My mom owned a video store in the late nineties and I remember putting it back out onto the shelves when it was returned. I remember it having a white case with Sinbad's face on it wearing a pink or purple colored shiny turban. It's just so bizarre and makes me uncomfortable to even think about.

I saw the Sinbad movie. I know 100% I'm not confusing it with Kazaam. I used to work at an after school program for kids. We used to do a movie day once a week. We just happened to show both of these movies on back to back weeks. So one movie one week, the other movie the following week. I very clearly saw two different movies. I remember thinking to myself how odd it was both movies had a similar title and are about genies. I was also very aware of who Sinbad and Shaq were. No way was I confusing those two together.

I was 5 when Shazaam appeared on Disney. I don’t ever remember it being on VHS but I do remember it on the Disney Chanel. It’s really the only reason I know who Sinbad is. All I can really remember about the movie is Sinbad not really wanting to be a genie. He wasn’t happy to be the kids genie. I’ve never seen the college humor skit. I’ve never seen the commercial. I don’t own the movie, my parents rented it. Or it was on tv. I developed my own thoughts independently without hearing from anyone else. I was about 7 in 1994. I remember thinking it was weird that there were two genie movies, one with Sinbad and one with Shaq. And that they were named similarly. It had blown my mind that I saw this as a Mandela effect because I had never talked about it (they were both cheesy but the sinbad one was better, so naturally I never wanted to watch either again) because I go to look at comments and so many other people say things that I remember about it. My memory is far more hazy so I cannot definitively say who is right or wrong but I can say what isn’t and what is on some things.
I remember there being a boy, and he was a well known child actor at the time. Who it was? I can’t say, I just know that it was one of the things that made it “better” than shaq’s. They had a similar plot line in the fact something to do with a parent dying or divorcing or something but mostly all else was way different and the overall cheesiness of kazaam made Shazaam way better. I’m pretty sure that Shazaam was just a straight up lamp. There may have been a sister but I’m not certain. I do know that I was never alerted to this until Shazam came out and I thought “why would they remake this” and then I was like whoa it’s a super hero movie? Why would I do this on my own accord and remember sinbad very clearly without any outside interference and my mind be doing a Mandela effect? I knew about the kazaam thing already it was different.
I think an explanation above makes more sense. Shaq and Sinbad were friends, Sinbad was down low and stole the idea. It did better, because he’s a better actor etc, and Shaq got upset. They came to an agreement to help Shaq out to never talk about it again, and buy all copies back, or it was a tv special and so naturally it was super easy to make that go away. My parents had probably recorded it but vhs was getting phased out soon, most people made the switch and didn’t look back.
What I’d like is if somebody actually has a copy, to please post it up! Do it anonymously, if you are scared, by making a fake account at the local library or something, and transfer the file to the computer and then post it up. We as a society need this!!!! We’ve proven other things to be misprints or old logos that people aren’t remembering correctly, or different occurrences (like Disney tinkerbell doing it on Disney home video or monopoly man’s monocle being in commercial and elsewhere on the board game just not the logo) this is the only one I’ve seen that hasn’t gotten proof it existed yet. It was a made for tv abc family movie, it aired on a Wednesday, if you had cable then you probably didn't see it. Anyone saying they have a vhs copy is lying their ass off unless they recorded it and I doubt anyone did but it was a real movie none the less. Nobody is going to confuse him with Shaq and it's obscurity made it easy to disappear. It came out after his house guest movie and several months prior to Kazaam. He was dressed like the sultan from Aladdin for the first portion of the film and the scene where the girl blows a wish on fixing her doll is still annoying to me. If you look into the Moonraker Mandela effect, then you will see that she still has her braces while drinking from a wine glass. While it's true that people are indeed remembering most of these things incorrectly, we are still being played at a massive scale, but to what end?

One of the peices of technology our military has used for decades, before the masses even knew it existed was GPS. Some wanted to make it available to the public but a few were strongly against it claiming it would cause a disastrous national security threat. Here we are 20 years later with GPS being a lifeline for almost the entire world. Imagine today's young adults trying to use a paper map 🤣 it's me. I'm young adults.
